You are invited to submit an abstract or poster proposal for presentation at the 12th National Allied Health Conference. Proposals should address the conference theme of "Stronger Together: responsive services, reliable systems and resilient workforce" and be of interest to allied health professionals working in all sectors. We encourage submissions of research, practice improvement activities or quality improvement projects which address the themes of the conference. The scientific committee is pleased to offer mentoring in abstract preparation for colleagues who would like additional support.

Oral Presentations
Oral papers will be allocated 2
0 minutes. This includes a 15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions.

Workshop Presentations
Workshop presentations will be allocated 3 hours.

Poster Presentations

Posters will be on display during the conference, with the opportunity to discuss your presentation with delegates during an informal poster session at an allocated time slot during the conference program. The conference organisers will provide a poster template for use by presenters.


Submitting your oral, workshop or poster presentations

General Information

  • It is recommended that the presenting author's contact details are used when submitting the abstract to avoid miscommunication regarding the abstract submission and review process.
  • All abstracts must be submitted in English.
  • All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
  • Your abstract will appear in print as submitted. Please ensure you check your data carefully before submitting as changes or additions will not be accepted after the Call for Abstracts closes.
  • Please access the tools to assist abstract submission provided to ensure your abstract is of the highest quality. Inexperienced presenters are warmly encouraged to seek mentoring as outlined below to assist with abstract preparation.
  • The presenter is required to submit a short biography. Biographies are limited to 100-150 words. Your biography should be written using complete sentences and in the 3rd person. Please refrain from using bullet points. Your biography should contain information relative to your position, career history and professional achievements.
  • Please refer to the Assessment criteria for abstracts and posters in the tools to assist abstract submission section to ensure your abstract meets criteria for inclusion in the conference program.
  • If you have entered a valid email address you will receive a confirmation email confirming receipt of your submission.
  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the National Allied Health Conference, Scientific Committee and Abstract Review Subcommittee.

Mentoring

All delegates submitting oral, workshop or poster presentation abstracts are encouraged to utilise the available networks within their workplaces or professional peer groups to assist with the preparation and review of abstracts. Assistance with abstract preparation is available to anyone who is unable to access assistance via their workplace or professional networks and may be new to submitting abstracts to a scientific conference. Members of the scientific committee will provide mentoring and support via email. To access support please contact: Prof Michelle Lincoln via wdavison@csu.edu.au

Colleagues seeking assistance in abstract writing must do so as soon as possible.


Submission Procedure

1. Prepare your oral, workshop or poster presentation abstract
Prepare your abstract on the Word template provided in the tools assist abstract submission section.

2. Enter your contact details
Enter you contact details into the on-line submission portal below.

3. Identify the theme your oral, workshop or poster presentation addresses and the broad content area
Using the drop down menus indicate the conference subtheme that your presentation will address and the broad content area that will be examined.

4. Enter your abstract using the text boxes
Address each of the required areas by inserting the appropriate text into each text box. Please abide by the specified word limits.


Submission Details

For each abstract you submit you will be asked to complete SECTION A: PERSONAL DETAILS and SECTION B: SUBMISSION DETAILS:

For oral, workshop and poster presentations this includes:

  • Presentation title
  • Preferred presentation format
  • Conference Subtheme
  • Content area
  • Name/s of author/s
  • Affiliation/s of author/s
  • Indicate the presenter
  • Short biography of the presenter (100 words)
  • Description of presentation for conference program (250 words)
  • Introduction: General statement to orient the reader to the area of your study. (100 words)
  • Research question or problem addressed (20 words)
  • Sources of information: Data collection and analysis methods.(50 words)
  • Findings: A summary of the relevant information. (100 words)
  • Discussion: Practical applications and implications drawn from the findings. (100 words)

The following 2 sections are required for oral presentations only

  • Innovative contribution to policy, practice and/or research (100 words)
  • How the paper addresses one of the following conference themes: responsive services, reliable systems, resilient workforce (50 words)

All proposals should include:

  • References: Provide full references for all citations in this submission (APA format)

Presenters registration

All presenters will be required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. Presenters also need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.
